Meet the Team at Yarrabilba Vet
We’re looking forward to meeting you and your pets when you visit us
Our Veterinarians
Meet our team of highly skilled, compassionate and friendly veterinarians at Yarrabilba Veterinary Hospital.

Dr Chris Corcoran BVSc
Chris graduated from University of Queensland and joined Andrew at Tamborine Mountain in 2002. He moved across to the Canungra Surgery in 2005 and spent many years there cementing the practice as part of the local community. Since 2017 Chris has been leading the team at our state-of-the-art Yarrabilba Hospital.
Chris has a special interest in reproduction and most weeks see him performing pre-breeding checks, caesarean sections and vaccinating litters of puppies & kittens. When he’s not working hard Chris is kept busy with his family’s sporting commitments.

Dr Kim Unwin BVSc
Kim enjoys both internal medicine and performing surgery, and has plans to pursue further medical accreditations throughout her career. While Kim loves all her patients she has a real soft spot for cats.
Kim is based at our Yarrabilba Hospital but also does regular days at Tamborine Mountain and Pimpama City when needed.
When not at work Kim can usually be found at her local CrossFit gym, getting coffee with friends or at home spoiling her two cats.

Dr Grant Kemp BVSc
Grant graduated from university of Queensland in 2005 and spent his first few years as a vet working in mixed practice before deciding to concentrate on small animals. He joined the Yarrabilba team in 2021. Grant embraces all aspects of being a General Practitioner and has a wide variety of interests in both medicine and surgery, particularly musculoskeletal disorders in dogs.
In his spare time Grant enjoys lifting large inanimate objects at the gym to keep fit and has a green thumb cultivating Venus Fly-Traps.

Dr Suki Walton BVSc
Suki joined us as a new graduate from James Cook University in 2019 and luckily for us, has decided to stay. Suki grew up in South East Asia before giving in to the temptations of Australia’s beaches. She has a particular interest in surgery and is well known as our resident ‘çrazy-cat lady’
Suki is our artist in residence and when not helping your pets feel better she loves to paint and sketch. She is also our flying vet in the making, having just obtained her recreational pilots license.

Dr Colleen Buckley BVSc
Colleen was born and educated in the Scenic Rim and after many years away she returned here to live. In her spare time Colleen is kept busy with her family and running a farm.
Our Support Staff
Meet our team support staff including our nurses and receptionists at Yarrabilba Veterinary Hospital.

Melissa Hyde VN
Senior Nurse
Mel initially started working at our Tamborine Mountain clinic about 5 years ago, having been working in another local practice while gaining her vet nursing qualification. She moved to join the Yarrabilba Hospital just after it opened and is now one of the senior nurses here. Mel enjoys her varied role but is particularly interested in nursing our hospitalised patients during their stay.
When not working Mel spends time working her two Border Collies Cooper & Ralph. They travel South East Queensland competing in Herding, Agility & Frisbee competitions.

Sherree Gordon VN
Senior Nurse
Sheree has been nursing for over 20 years and still loves her role. Having worked in practice in Brisbane she joined Tamborine Mountain in 2011 where, in addition to working at the clinic she began rescuing & rehoming animals. A year ago Sherree moved down the mountain to Yarrabilba and joined the team at our Yarrabilba Hospital where she has become an integral part of the practice.
Sheree has 3 rescue Greyhounds and more than a few cats. In her spare non-animal time she enjoys mosaics, art, swimming, bike riding and hikes with friends.

Jade Brady VN
Nurse
Jade started at Yarrabilba by completing work placement while studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at TAFE. As she gained more experience Jade joined us as a casual nurse and then once she had qualified moved to a full-time position. Jade enjoys the fact that every day in a vet practice is different and says the best part of her role is assisting in surgery.
Jade has a Kelpie Cross named Tokyo who she takes for long beach walks when she has time off.

Bernadette McMahon
Senior Receptionist
Bernie joined the Yarrabilba Veterinary Hospital as our senior receptionist in 2018, after moving to the Scenic Rim with her family a year or 2 earlier. She came to us with a wealth of knowledge having spent many years working in a variety of administration & customer service roles including 10 years at another veterinary hospital in Samford Valley. Bernie is passionate about both pets and their people and enjoys supporting our team of vets and nurses in their roles.
When Bernadette is not working at the practice you can find her helping out at Equestrian Show Jumping events. She loves a good chat over a cuppa and chatting about all things horses, dogs, cats or any other animal.

Amber Vernick
Receptionist
Amber’s life is animals – she has been the owner of a pet shop, cared for birds, reptiles & other exotic animals including crocodiles at a private zoo and has been breeding, raising & training birds for over 25 years. Inevitably she began working in veterinary practice in 2013 and in the last 10 years has worked in both first opinion and emergency clinics as a receptionist. Amber joined the team at Yarrabilba in 2021 and fitted into the team immediately.
When not at work – you’ve guessed, Amber spends her time showing horses and working with Macaws as therapy birds for people with PTSD, mental health issues & brain injuries. At home she spends her time with 6 dogs and 3 cats, all of whom are rescues.

Deb Pope
Receptionist
Originally from the UK, Deb has lived in Australia for many years and has worked as both a nurse and a receptionist in several practices in the Brisbane region. She is now a part-time receptionist at our Yarrabilba hospital, working Fridays and Saturdays.
Deb spends the rest of her time with family & friends and entertaining her young grandchildren.
