Expert Pet Care for Tamborine Mountain, Canungra, Yarrabilba and Pimpama Pet Owners

COVID-19 NOTICE

Dear Valued Client,

We appreciate that these are worrying times and wanted to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to protect you and our staff so that we can continue to provide care to our patients.

We are extremely good at Infection Control and already have very high standards of hygiene in place at all of our clinics. We have increased our cleaning and sanitising procedures and put some additional measures in place for everyone’s protection.

In addition, our team members are under strict instruction to remain at home and not come to work if they are unwell – please bear with us if we become understaffed during this time.

How you can help

Please do not attend our surgery if you are currently sick, or are in isolation due to having recently returned from overseas or have been in contact with a positive Covid-19 patient.

To help us to keep you and us healthy we urge you to please follow the advice of the Australian Veterinary Association and the Department of Health regarding “Disinfection” and “Social Distancing” when visiting us, which in practical terms at the Vet, can be summarised by the following guidelines:

  • Please limit the number of people attending the practice to 1 person per pet.

  • Avoid shaking hands or touching staff or other clients.

  • Maintain a distance of 1.5m from staff and other clients

  • Wash your hands and / or use Hand Sanitiser.

  • Ask other clients not to touch your pet & avoid interacting with other peoples pets

  • Limit touching of the reception desk, consult tables and other surfaces.

  • Stand back from the reception counter.

  • Pay with Eftpos and avoid paying with Cash where possible.

If you are vulnerable, at-risk, or practising social distancing you may also decide to:

  • Wait in your car or outside for your appointment and we will let you know when it is your turn.

  • If you choose to remain in your car, we can collect your pet from your car and examine them in the clinic. We will obtain your pet’s history and communicate the consultation findings over the telephone. We can then take payment over the telephone before returning your pet and any medications to you in your car

  • As per our normal guidelines, please ring ahead to order any repeat medications, ideally 24hrs in advance – this enables us to check that the medication is in stock and prevents unnecessary trips to the vet. In the current environment, it also means less waiting time in Reception as we can have the medication made up and priced up, simply ready to be collected.

  • Payment of medication/food over the phone and staff bringing it to your car.

Medication and food supplies

We currently are not experiencing any shortages from our suppliers but if your pet is on long term medication or a special food, then please ensure that your prescription is current, that you have adequate stock and order repeats in plenty of time in case there are delays in us getting stock in.

We are currently investigating our options for remote consultations via skype or similar in the event that the government progresses to lockdown. Our professional body is lobbying for vets to be on the list of essential services that remain open in that event.

Unfortunately, if one of our staff members contracts COVID-19 we will be forced to close the clinic and isolate the rest of the team. We really hope to not have to impact you in this way, but this is why our additional measures and the co-operation of all staff and clients is so important.

We are committed to doing everything we can to support our clients during these difficult times. Please telephone us if you have any questions and we will do our best to provide you with our usual high standards of care.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Andrew Paxton-Hall & Dr Chris Corcoran & Assoc.
